From the basics of Bible stories for our littlest members, to LifeTeen for young adults, our youth programmes are firmly grounded in recognised Catholic curriculums. These not only prepare them for the reception of Sacraments, but tackle the many difficult issues they will face growing up in a modern world.
From January 2022, our Sunday morning Children’s Liturgy takes on a new format. Catechesis of the Good Shepherd makes way for the Little Stones, while our older children move to a new Friday evening class.
Little Stones: While parents attend Sunday morning Mass, children aged 3-6 years are invited to participate in our bible-based programme from 08:15 – 09:30. There is no registration and everyone is welcome each week.
Catechesis Orientation: Gr 1 and 2 children will now attend a Friday evening religious orientation programme that lays the foundation for First Confession in Gr 3 and First Holy Communion in Gr 4. This class will run concurrently with the First Confession and First Communion groups, from 17:00 – 18:00 in the hall.
First Confession takes place in November each year. Children in Gr 3 prepare for this sacrament of mercy and healing by way of catechism instruction on Friday evenings during the school term. Catechism takes place in the hall from 17:00 – 18:00.
First Holy Communion
First Holy Communion takes place in November every year on the feast of Christ the King. Children in Gr 4 prepare for this intimate communion with Jesus and His Church by way of catechism instruction most Fridays during the school term. Catechism takes place in the hall from 17:00 – 18:00.
EDGE is for children in Gr 5 – 7. They meet on Friday evenings in the parish hall. Like LifeTeen, EDGE children have fun while getting to know the Lord, His teachings and His Church. From January 2022, EDGE will enjoy a slightly longer time-slot, from 18:00 – 19:30. EDGE children are encouraged to bring along friends from other Catholic parishes and Christian churches.
LifeTeen is for high schoolers in grade 8 -12. Open to those from any religious background, each evening begins in the hall after the 18:00 Sunday Mass (19:00 – 20:30). At LifeTeen, young people have fun while learning to pray and know God and His teachings. LifeTeen leads children to encounter Jesus in prayer and the sacraments within the context of the God’s family, the Church. To join, simply show up in the hall most Sundays during the school term at 19:00.
